To World War II Veteran

U.S. Rep. Diamond, now 90, enlisted when he was 17, and participated in the Normandy invasion when he was 18. Diamond, a coxswain, never spoke of his war experiences until approached by a reporter at a parade in Schoharie County following Hurricane Irene. His niece, Kathy Fallon, contacted the congressman's office, who was able to obtained a European Theater Medal, two stars; an American Theatre Medal, a Asiatic-Pacific Medal, one star, and a Victory Medal for his constituent.
