Farmed In Cherry Valley For 45 Years

CHERRY VALLEY – Harold B. Edmonds Jr, 78, who farmed for more than 45 years in Cherry Valley, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by loved ones, following a long battle with cancer.

He was born March 25, 1938, in Malverne, on Long Island, son of the late Catheline and Harold Edmonds Sr. The family moved to Cherry Valley in 1946 and he graduated from Cherry Valley High School in 1958.

He received a farming degree from SUNY Cobleskill and then pursued his love of farming for over 45 years. He also loved spending time with family and friends, watching sports, and attending local high school basketball games.

He is survived by his wife, Mary (Jewett) Edmonds; daughter Cynthia Edmonds and her fiancé Ryan McGill of Christchurch, New Zealand; son Jeffrey Edmonds, his wife Susan and grandsons Jack and Luke of Milford; stepson James Griffin and his wife Mary, and their daughters, Kayla, Kelly, Jamie and Sarah of Ballston Lake; sister Phyllis Havlicek and her husband Bill of Warnerville; niece Lisa and nephew Todd.

Family and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service to celebrate his life at Cherry Valley Presbyterian Church on Tuesday August 30th at 2pm.

In lieu of flowers, any donations in Harold’s name can be made to either Cherry Valley Presbyterian Church, Cherry Valley Emergency Squad or Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care.
