Ommegang Helps Cooperstown
Win Livability.com 3rd Ranking
COOPERSTOWN – Livability.com’s first “99 Beers In 99 Cities” index – spun off from the idea that “the craft beer movement has coincided with the revitalization of many of the nation’s downtowns – has ranked Cooperstown third in the nation.
“Baseball and beer make a nice pair, so it’s only fitting that in Cooperstown, considered the birthplace of baseball, you’ll also find great brews,” the blurb reads. It notes Ommengang is “not too far” from the Baseball Hall of Fame, and also mentions the Fly Creek Cider Mill and Cooperstown Distillery.
Ommegang’s Abbey Ale is chosen as Cooperstown’s “highly rated beer to represent the town.”
“Economic development tourism, talent attraction – these are all great side effects of the craft beer movement in the U.S.,” said Livability.com editor Matt Carmichael. “But at the end of the day, this is a ranking of great beer in great cities, and it sure is nice to have a cold pint of one of these 99 brews.”
