COOPERSTOWN – “Fates and Furies,” the third novel by Lauren Groff, who was raised in Cooperstown, is President Obama’s favorite book of 2015,  The New Republic is reporting.

“It’s a special day,” declared Lauren’s mom, Jeannine.  She and Dr. Gerry Groff are the novelist’s parents.

For her part, the novelist tweeted on hearing the news: “That’s it!  I retire.”

“Obama’s pick is a popular one,” the New Republic reported.  “‘Fates and Furies’ is currently leading The Wall Street Journal’s meta list of the best books of the year.”

Piper Seamon 5th CCS Girl To Hit High Mark The Cooperstown Central student section erupts as Piper Seamon scores her 1,000th career point in the Hawkeyes’ 57-39 win over Waterville at home last evening.
