2 Oneontans Facing Charges
After Raid Finds Alleged Cocaine
ONEONTA – A man and a woman from Oneonta were arrested Wednesday after the OPD Special Response Team and K9s raided Apartment 2A, 195 Main St., at 6 a.m. and seized a substance suspected to be crack cocaine with a street value of $400, according to Oneonta police.
The suspects were identified as Nelson J. Canales, 34, and Jamie L. Osborne, 31.
They were charged with class B felonies of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree and class A misdemeanors, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree.
Canales was also charged with a class A misdemeanor, menacing in the second degree.
The search warrant was based upon an investigation that had been ongoing since the beginning of 2015 and another incident in which a firearm was reportedly displayed.
The maximum punishment for a class B felony is nine years’ incarceration. The maximum punishment for a class A misdemeanor is on year in jail.
