IN MEMORIAM: Bill Ronovech, 72;
Co-Captained OHS Unbeaten Team
ONEONTA – Word has been received that William A. Ronovech, 72, co-captain of Oneonta High School’s undefeated 1959-60 basketball team, lost a 10-year battle with illness on Dec. 9, 2015, passing away in his sleep at home in Nevada, where he had lived the past 30 years.
He was born Jan. 4, 1943, in Oneonta, to Eleanor and William Ronovech. He was active in OHS sports, not only on Coach Drago’s legendary team, but pitching on Iroquois League championship baseball teams.
He was a kind and caring man, smart and full of humor.
He served in the Navy, then worked in sales and collections.
He was preceded in death by his parents,.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 33 years, Sue Ronovech; three sons, Brian, Tim and Harry; a sister, Carol (Tom) Clark of Callaway, Md.; and brothers Victor (Andrea) Ronovech and David Ronovech of Oneonta.
A celebration of life service is pending.
Arrangements were entrusted to Desert Memorial, Las Vegas, Nev.
