ONEONTA – State Sen. Jim Seward, R-Milford, applauded today’s announcement of a $21.45 million grant to stabilize Fox Hospital’s finances and created a “major joint center” affiliated with the Oneonta facility.

“Fox Hospital is instrumental to our region’s health care needs and economic well-being,” said the senator.  “In recent years, the rural health care model has evolved greatly and Fox is making significant changes to meet the new challenges and continue providing quality care for patients.”

The grant was received through the Essential Health Care Provider Support Program, which is separate from Health Commissioner Howard Zucker’s announcement today that $1.5 billion will be allocated for hospital projects statewide.

“I was pleased to advocate for Fox’s blueprint for future success and appreciate the support from Governor Cuomo and the state Department of Health,” the senator said.
