Democrat Sean Eldridge, challenging U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson, R-19th, in Tuesday’s election, lost Otsego County, 4,971-10,027, but won the Democratic city of Oneonta, 998-920.

In Oneonta, Eldridge won six of the eight wards, losing the Fifth (outer Chestnut) and the Sixth (River Street), according to a breakout put together by Bill Waller, the former Cooperstown GOP chairman.

In the rest of the county, the Democrat came closest to winning two Cooperstown precincts: Otsego One, 287 to Gibson’s 320, and Middlefield One, 135 to 163, but even there the Republican had comfortable margins.
