IN MEMORIAM: Mary H. Wayman, 92;
Active In Salvation Army For 47 Years
OTEGO – Mary H. Wayman, 92, active in the Salvation Army since 1972, went to heaven on March 24, 2019.
She was born July 2, 1926, in Oneonta, the daughter of George and Anna Bell (Short) Harris.
Mary was a waitress and domestic homemaker for more than 50 years.
In 1972, Mary joined the Salvation Army where she was Home League secretary for 18 years. She was also a Sunday school teacher and was involved with the Busy Bees. Mary truly enjoyed doing kettles during the holiday season.
Mary will be deeply missed by her family, her church and all those she held in her heart.
She is survived by her sons, Keith Wayman Sr. of Otego, Christopher Wayman of Tennessee; daughter Pamela Harris of Otego; grandchildren, Keith Wayman Jr. and Katherine Curtis of Hartwick, Benjamen and Melissa Wayman of Hartwick, Joshua and Ashley Wayman of Otego, Allison and Josh Netherton of Tennessee, Zachary Harris of Otego; and great-grandchildren, Cameron, Dylon, Evan, Leeah Wayman of Hartwick; Noah, Sofia, Xavier, Logan and Jaxon Wayman of Otego.
Mary was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Frederick R. Wayman; son, Timothy Wayman; and parents, George P. Harris and Anna Bell Short Harris.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, at the Salvation Army Church, 25 River St., officiated by the Salvation Army Officers.
At Mary’s request there will be no public calling hours. Committal services and burial will take place later in the spring in Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army Church, 25 River St., Oneonta, NY 13820, in loving memory of Mary Wayman.
