On Main, Doubleday

COOPERSTOWN – Village residents will be briefed Wednesday, April 10, on two pending projects, Mayor Ellen Tillapaugh Kuch announced.

• One, the TEP (Transportation Enhancement Project), which will restructure the Chestnut-Main intersection “at the light.”

• Two, the $5 million upgrade of Doubleday Field.

The meeting will be at 6 p.m. in the Village Hall Ballroom at 22 Main St.

First, representatives of Barton & Loguidice, the project engineer, as well as Upstate Companies, the construction firm, will discuss the TEP. The improvements begun last fall on Pioneer Street will be completed and additional work will begin on Main Street, including decorative street lamp posts on Pioneer, replacement of portions of the sidewalk on Pioneer and Main, as well as improving new wayfinder manufacturing signage, benches, trash receptacles, bike racks and a drinking fountain. All TEP street work planned for spring 2019 will conclude prior to the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend.

Second, a recently awarded bid to Upstate Industries for the demolition of Doubleday Field’s deteriorated third-base bleachers will be detailed. Work will begin as soon as possible this spring and a proposed schedule for the demolition and debris removal will be provided.
