In Memoriam: Laurie Ann Enck, 51; Loved Music
ONEONTA – The funeral service was Saturday for Laurie Ann Enck, 51, who
worked with her husband in Gary Enck’s Car Store, formerly in Hartwick
Seminary, now in West Davenport. She passed away Monday May 19, 2014 at
St. Peter’s Hospital, after a battle with breast cancer, her husband,
daughter and family by her side.

Laurie was born Aug. 28, 1962, in Delhi, to Paul (Pete) and Marilyn
Bowker. On Sept. 9, 1989, Laurie and Gary C. Enck were married.
Laurie graduated form Walton High School, attended Onondaga Community
College and earned her degree from SUNY Oneonta.
Although her aspirations were to be a teacher, she joined her husband’s
business, bringing a sincere interest in their customers.
After the birth of daughter Olivia, Laurie devoted her time, love and
energy to the teaching career she originally sought with her daughter as
her only student. Laurie’s love of music is especially prominent in
Olivia. It was always a special treat to see them play the violin and
piano together. Even during the time she was struggling with her illness
she endeavored to Olivia’s music instruction.
Laurie spent time with the local cancer support group and Olivia’s
school. Laurie’s most admirable trait was her ability to truly care for
anyone in need.
In addition to her husband and daughter, she is survived by stepdaughter
Jeni C. Enck, mother Marilyn Walley, brother Anthony (Cindy) Jump,
sister Sheryl Hickson, sister Charlene Todack, sister-in-law Linda
(Robert) Cable, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and
close friends.
Laurie was predeceased by her father, stepfather Harland Walley, brother
Keith Bowker and infant brother Paul (Petey) Bowker.
The funeral was Saturday, May 23, at Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta,
with the Rev. Bruce McCardle, Susquehanna Valley Baptist Church,
officiating. Burial followed in Walton Cemetery.
