Third Candidate Announces
She’ll Run In Fourth Ward
ONEONTA – Michelle Osterhoudt of Elm Street today announced her intention to run for Common Council representing the Fourth Ward as a Democrat on the Democratic Party line.
So far, it will be a three-way race, against Republican Laura Dohner and independent Jeff Back. They are seeking to succeed Council member Mike Lynch, who decided not to run again.
Michelle has lived in Oneonta since 1983 and is an alumna of Center Street School and Oneonta High School. She teaches English in the Oneonta Middle School, and lives in the city with her husband, Marty, and their two children, Alex and Ella.
She is a member of the Oneonta Area NAACP, where she serves as the Education Chair. She also serves on the Human Rights Commission and was public relations chair of former Mayor Miller’s Diversity Summit.
Michelle said she loves living in Center City and would like to continue to work on resident/student relationships, housing and job creation. “I’d love to work to make sure that Oneonta provides both a welcoming environment and ample opportunity to all who chose to live, work, or study here,” she said.
