IN MEMORIAM: Doug Lindsay, 92; World War II Vet
Helped Found Cooperstown VFW Post On His Return
COOPERSTOWN – Douglas E. Lindsay, 92, a founding member of VFW Post 7128, Cooperstown, passed away Tuesday June 30, 2015, in his sleep.
He was born in Cooperstown on Feb. 25, 1923, the son of Edward D. and Sophia (Creighton) Lindsay.
He served as a Seabee in the Navy during WWII in communications.
He loved Bluegrass music, singing, playing guitar, and other string instruments, people, travel, camping, sitting in front of the fire reading, HAM radio (K3YCG), and riding motorcycles.
Survivors include two sons: Robert and Edward and his spouse Janice all of MD, and a brother William Lindsay and his family.
There will be no public services at his request.
