IN MEMORIAM: Harold F. Lent, 96;
Services Saturday For Bendix Retiree
ONEONTA – The graveside service for Harold F. Lent, 96, who spent his career at Bendix Corp. (now Amphenol), will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, at the Evergreen Cemetery in Otego.
He passed away Nov. 4, 2018, at Fox Hospital.
Harold was born Jan. 14, 1922, on Colburn Avenue in Otego, the son of Frank George and Nancy Ulena (Hammond) Lent. He graduated from Otego Central School in June 1939.
He married Bernice Ida Briscoe on Jan. 15, 1943, in Otego. She predeceased him July 1953. His second marriage was to Christine Scrivener on July 23, 1955, in Gilbertsville. She passed away in June 2016.
Harold was a farmer for 10 years, then worked as a process planner for 31 years at Bendix in Sidney. He lived in Morris for four years, Otego for three years before moving to Oneonta.
Harold was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta, the Sidney and Oneonta bowling sssociations for 50 years, including 14 years as secretary for the Oneonta association. Harold was also a crossing guard for the Oneonta School District for 28 years.
He is survived by his children, Robert and Nancy Lent of Oneonta, Kathleen and Jerry Parsons of Sharon Springs, and Jeffrey and Deidre Lent of Unadilla; grandchildren, David and Ruth Parsons, Daniel and Chris Parsons, Amy and Andre’ N’guettia, Ryan Lent and Tori Hansen, Thomas Lent, Robert and Sandy Lent; great-grandchildren, Rachel, Lucas, Jacob, Alec, Max, Katelyn, Ashley, Jonathan; great-great grandchildren, Mia and Trenton; several nieces and nephews, and Bogey the cat.
He was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Marissa Parsons; brothers, Elmer and Kenneth Lent and sisters, Irene Beames and Gladys Nichols.
