To Speak At NYSHA Annual Meeting

COOPERSTOWN – Joe D. Horse Capture, associate curator for the Smithsonian Institution at the National Museum of the American Indian, will address members of the New York State Historical Association at its 112th Annual Meeting.

The meeting, at 4 p.m. Thursday, July 16, in the Fenimore Art Museum Auditorium, is open to NYSHA members.

A reception follows the meeting on the lower level of the Fenimore Art Museum. The meeting and reception are open to NYSHA members.  To RSVP for the Annual Meeting, please contact Kate Morgan, k.morgan@nysha.org or call (607) 547-1536.

The winner of the Paul S. Kerr History Prize, awarded each year to the best article published in New York History, will be announced at the annual meeting.  Winners of the Dixon Ryan Fox Manuscript Prize, for the best unpublished, book-length monograph dealing with some aspect of New York history; and the Henry Allen Moe Prize for Catalogs of Distinction in the Arts will also be announced.

Stocking, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on May 17, 2023 at the age of 100.  Virginia was born in Cooperstown on December 2, 1922 to Earl and Catherine Richards.
