McEvoy To Run Again
For Assembly In 101st
He Promises To Kill ‘Catskill Snake’
WESTFORD – Democrat Chad McEvoy this morning announced he will run again in the 101st District against Republican Brian Miller. This year’s election is Nov. 3.
The 101st is “one of the most gerrymandered in all New York State,” McEvoy said in his announcement. It winds spaghetti-like from the Utica area to Orange County, north of Newburgh.
When he ran in 2018, one of McEvoy’s main promises was to get the 200-mile “Catskill snake” redrawn in a way that would allow better representation.
In Otsego County, it includes the towns of Springfield, Middlefield, Westford and Maryland.
“No doubt, it’s a difficult district to compete in, especially for a Democrat,” said McEvoy, who has a background in economic development. “But the voters deserve a
choice and a real conversation about the issues that matter to our rural communities.”
On the issues, he said “many of us still don’t have broadband (and) suffering from
decades of under-investment in our infrastructure. And I will continue to fight against
both sides using the benefits of incumbency irresponsibly and to the detriment of the
voters.”
The candidate lives on 63 acres in Westford with his wife, Megan, and their dog Nina.
