IN MEMORIAM: Irma D. Cortese, 75;
Pursued Insurance Career In Dallas
ONEONTA – Irma D. (Boglioli) Cortese, 75, of Oneonta, who pursued a career in insurance in Dallas, passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2020, in Oneonta.
She was born on Jan. 25, 1945, in The Bronx, daughter of the late Constantino and Ray (Hausman) Boglioli.
Irma was raised in Pearl River. She married Frank Cortese, and they welcomed their son Francis Paul, before moving to Dallas in the mid 1970s. There, she was an insurance agent with John Hancock, before opening her own agency, Irma Cortese Farmer’s Insurance agency.
Irma was loved by many for her kindness, friendship, joy and laughter. She loved nature, and was often on hiking or canoeing trips. She was the former president of the Dallas Down River Club, which promoted paddling, and was known for hiking the Grand Canyon. She will be remembered for “Doing it my way.”
She is survived by a son Francis (Deborah) Cortese of Dallas, her surrogate daughter Argryo (Paul) Michelson of Tuscan, Ariz., and granddaughter Rainy, whom she loved dearly; brothers Louis (Ruth) Boglioli of Florida, their children Julie and Jay, Conrad (Carol) Boglioli in the Town of Maryland, and their children Kara, Ted and Michael; nephews Shawn Daley, Gerard Boglioli and Willy Daley; several grand nieces and grand nephews; a sister-in-law Theresa (Cookie) Boglioli in Florida, and special friends in New York and Dallas, especially Carol Wickstrom and Linn Welborn.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister Betty Lou Daley and brother in law Bill Daley.
A lover of all animals, Irma’s family is encouraging donations to your local SPCA, or Humane Society in her memory.
Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the Unit 3 Staff of Fox Hospital Nursing Home for the excellent care provided for Irma during her time there.
A celebration of Irma’s life will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 14, 2020, at Delker & Terry Funeral Home 30 South St., Edmeston, with Rev. John Buddle officiating.
