Middlefield Democrats
to host meet-and-greet

The Middlefield Town Democrats will sponsor a candidates meet-and-greet from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 1, at 190 Ottoway Road. Tents will be up in case of rain.

“The ice cream social will be an occasion to meet Democratic candidates for Middlefield offices in an open, natural setting,” Owen Weikert, chair of Middlefield Democrats, said. “We welcome family, friends and neighbors. We’ll have live music, too!”

Among those present will be David Karl, a write-in candidate for town supervisor. Karl was the director of engineering at Bassett Hospital. Other candidates present will be two residents running to be members on the town board. Peggy Leon, an earlier successful write-in candidate, is seeking re-election. Joining Leon on the ballot is Jennifer Pindar, a local high school teacher and girls’ soccer coach. Incumbent Highway Superintendent Brendan Kraham is seeking re-election. Arthur Weinstock, a former business executive who works at the Baseball Hall of Fame, is the candidate for Town Clerk.Charlie Varney, a former respiratory therapist and current local busines owner with deep roots in the community, is the candidate for Otsego County Board of Representatives.
