What’s fun in Otsego County

Join the Rothenberger Road to Recovery Run in memory of Lucas Rothenberger, for those who have lost a loved one to addiction, and to help raise awareness of the realities of recovery from addiction. The event will feature a 1K fun run/walk, a 5K color run/walk, and a 10K race. There will also be a virtual option.

This event is open to the whole family, children will be able to play in Neahwa Park where there will be fun and music. The run will be followed by a post-race celebration with food, refreshments, music and an awards ceremony. Cost is $30 for the 10K on the day of, $25 for the 5K, and $20 for the 1K. The first 200 to register will receive a t-shirt and a bracelet. All events will begin and end in Neahwa Park in Oneonta. Day of registration is from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 4. •Celebrate Labor Day weekend with a performance from the Oneonta Community Concert Band. They will be performing “Music from the Hills,” which will include show tunes, marches, folk music and more. This is an outdoor concert, so bring lawn chairs. This free concert is supported by the American Federation of Musicians Local 443. •Brewery Ommegang presents the first BriteVibes Beer Festival. The festival will feature more than 30 breweries from around Upstate offering free samples of their products.

There will also be live music throughout the day, experiential exhibitors, artisan vendors, food trucks and more. This event is only for people 21 and older. General admission is $75 for the whole day. There is a designated driver option for $50, which will not have access to the beer tastings or other alcohol. •Commemorate the 20th anniversary of 9/11 with Otsego County Responders and public figures. Will open with flag-raising ceremony, a capella group singing ‘God Bless America,’ followed by a 5K and a 10K run/walk. All ages, fitness levels, and experience are welcome. Cost is $20 with all proceeds going to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Begins and ends at the Fly Creek Volunteer Fire Department, 832 Co.
