‘Courthouse Area,’ Leatherstocking
Might Be Next To Get Paid Parking
COOPERSTOWN – Village trustees this evening discussed the “courthouse area” and Leatherstocking Street as the next frontiers for paid parking, and perhaps revisiting River Street.
Currently, both streets, located next to the county office building, have all-day free parking.
The discussion ensued after Trustee Cindy Falk, Streets Committee chair, reported record revenues of $383,347.55 generated by the 20 Pay & Display machines operational during the season that ended Columbus Day Weekend.
The report generated by ATI (Access Technology Integration), the village’s vendor, also showed the village losing about $5,000 in revenues on Induction Weekend, when the Doubleday Field parking lot and Main Street are closed to traffic.
Peak weeks followed in August, with the first week generating $31,442.70 and the second week, $31,822. 30.
Also, the report showed 44 percent of revenues coming from the three machines in the Doubleday lot, with only 1 percent coming from the machine on Upper Main Street.
