IN MEMORIAM: Robert House, 62; Worked At Palace Cigar

ONEONTA – Robert David House, 62, a fixture at Palace Cigar during his many years working there, passed away after an extended illness, with his family by his side, on Saturday, June 14, 2014.

Bob graduated from OHS in 1969. He then worked as a meat cutter at Price Chopper for several years. It was while working at Palace Cigar that he developed his quick wit and wry sense of humor.

He was most recently employed at the ARC Otsego as a residential aide. He found this job the most fulfilling and was truly dedicated to his “guys” at Madison Avenue.

He loved to travel, especially to the beach. He was an avid reader and loved to watch tennis, golf and HGTV.

He is survived by Russell (Ginny) House of Escondido, Calif., Harold (Phyllis) House of Milford, James (Peggie) House of Oneonta, Michael House of Belleville, Ill., Mary Colone of Oneonta, Joseph (Patricia) House of Omaha, Neb., Thomas (Renee) House of Oneonta, William (Karen) House of Traverse City, Mich., JoAnn (Michael) Snyder of Oneonta and Pamela (Thomas) Edgar of San Diego, Calif.
He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his parents, Chauncey C. House, Jr. and Martha D. House and a sister, Jane House Bordinger.

At Bob’s request there will be no calling hours or services.

Memorial contributions in Bob’s memory can be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, NY 13820.
