Town, Mayor Agree
To Extend Fire Pact
Special Common Council Meeting Called
COOPERSTOWN – Mayor Gary Herzig and the Town of Oneonta Fire Commissioners today agreed to extend the town fire district’s current contract until Valentine’s Day, pending approval at a special Common Council meeting to be announced after Christmas.
Herzig spoke to seven of the eight council members and reported that the majority of them said they would vote in favor of approving the extension. During that time, the city and town will meet to continue negotiations for a longer contract, which will be retroactive to Jan. 1, 2016.
Supreme Court Judge Michael V. Coccoma will oversee the negotiations.
