Meets Today With Abbate, Katz, Exec Committee
![Zephyr Teachout, the Fordham law professor who won 40 Upstate counties against Governor Cuomo in the Democratic primary two years ago, poses with Rich Abbate, Otsego County Democratic chair, center, and Cooperstown Mayor Jeff Katz after meeting with the party’s executive committee at Abbate’s Cooperstown home this morning about running to succeed Republican U.S. Rep. Chris Gibson in the 19th District. “She’s testing the waters right now,” said Abbate. “From my standpoint, I think she’s going to announce. She’s an incredible candidate – full of energy, great ideas; she’s really going to light up the district.” Abbate said he’s meeting with all 11 county chairs in the 19th district Saturday in Ulster County, and hopes they emerge united behind a candidate; he will then return home to make the case to the local county committee. Julian Schreibman, Stone Ridge, who ran against Gibson in 2012, is interested in running again.
