School Superintendent ‘Died Tragically’
COOPERSTOWN – The Cooperstown Central school board announced a few minutes ago “with great sadness” that Superintendent C.J. Hebert “passed away tragically over the weekend.”
“C.J. brought significant, positive change to Cooperstown over the last six years,” Board President Theresa Russo said. “We have lost a strong leader and a good friend. Our thoughts are with C.J.’s family at this time.”
All classes have been cancelled today. Crisis counseling is available at the school district today for staff members and students. Regular school activities will resume tomorrow and counseling will also be available for students during the school day.
The Cooperstown Central School District Board of Education met this morning and will convene regularly throughout this week to move forward on a short-term plan for district supervision. Day-to-activities will proceed on schedule for students Tuesday and regular operations of the district will continue.
