IN MEMORIAM: Thomas Mulvey, 87;
Navy Vet Joined NYC Transit Authority
BURLINGTON – Funeral services for Thomas Mulvey, 87, of Burlington and Edmeston, a New York City Transit Authority employees for 30 years, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 24, at Houk-Johnston-Terry Funeral Home, Edmeston.
Mr. Mulvey died peacefully Friday May 20, 2016, at Bassett Healthcare Network in Cooperstown.
Tom was born Jan. 20, 1929, in The Bronx, the son of Thomas and Anna (Kelly) Mulvey. He married Helen G. Innes on Dec. 2, 1950. She predeceased Tom on April 12, 1996. Tom married Rosemary Hall May 21, 2000.
Tom served in the Navy before joining the Transit Authority. After retiring in 1991, he and Helen relocated to Edmeston. Tom thoroughly enjoyed his retirement; he was active in the Wharton Valley American Legion Post #1311, and shared many a morning coffee at various locations with other men from the communities.
Both Tom and Rosemary traveled extensively over the past 16 years; and made many of the USS Missouri Ship Reunions.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary; his five children, Georgann Mulvey-Fetten, Dorothy Rooney, Dale Mulvey, Thomas Mulvey and Kim Bennett; his step-daughters Karen Boynton and Connie Head; 16 grandchildren; two step- grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.
Tom was predeceased by his daughter Deborah Mulvey, grandsons; Alby Arbello and Danny Mulvey, granddaughters; Dawn Esposito and Tabitha Arbello and his brother James Mulvey.
Calling hours will be 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, prior to the funeral
Interment will be at Edmeston Union Cemetery.
