COOPERSTOWN – Instead of a full orientation, Hall of Fame inductee-to-be Ken Griffey Jr. made a whirlwind tour through Cooperstown Monday evening, but didn’t make it to the museum or plaque gallery.

He met with Hall of Fame officials at The Otesaga, and the Hall later released this quote, attributed to Griffey:

“This wasn’t my first trip to Cooperstown, but it was my first opportunity to see everything the village has to offer. I’m saving the Museum for July, because I want my first time walking through the front doors of the Hall of Fame to be with my kids. I can only imagine how it will feel to return in two months for Induction Weekend with all my family and friends, and all the baseball fans.”

Mike Piazza, who will be inducted with Griffey Sunday, July 24, in the field next to the Clark Sports Center, underwent a full day of orientation on March 8, including a tour of the Hall, a stop at the library and a visit to the spot in the Hall of Plaques where his plaque will be installed the Sunday evening of Induction Weekend.
