TEACHOUT VS. YANDIK
![Democratic contenders for Gibson's seat – Zephyr Teachout of Dover Plains, the author and Fordham law professor, and Will Yandik, an Ivy League grad, and former and town board member in Livingston, Ulster County – agreed on many issues, from the need for broad band to trade adjustments necessary to revive mid-size farms. When asked to define their differences, Teachout spoke to her successes in generating grass-roots campaigns on particular issues; Yandik said that, to win the 19th District, a candidate has to win the middle, and his roots and knowledge of the district would work in his favor. Faso looked tremendous last night. Composed, relaxed, he effectively conveyed his experience and knowledge and looked the part. Heaney is a solid candidate, but next to Faso the difference is clear. He’s also going to need to confront his affinity for Trump, because his answer last night just wasn’t good enough. And Faso had quite the rebuttal to the superPAC/outside spending questions. Zing. This race is filled with political talent, and the democrat debate showed this as well. Was blown away by the articulate, young, dynamic Will Yandik. If I was a democrat, I’d vote for that guy over Teachout all day of the week. He’s ACTUALLY from here. Teachout obviously brings star power, but I just don’t think her message of big-bad Wall Street and fighting big business and mergers will resonate like it has in other areas. And the fact that her biggest selling point was that she would rally other progressive democrats to run for office just like her will scare the s*** out of 19 republicans. Overall NY19 is stacked with political talent and it will be quite the battle come November. Glad folks on both sides of the aisle are fighting for this region.
