ONEONTA – Cal Harris, the Binghamton-area car dealer who was acquitted of killing his wife after his fourth trial, has told the Binghamton newspaper he was set up by state police, who arrested him after he allegedly parked for more than a hour in front of the Oneonta home of Investigator Terry Schultz.
State police report arresting Calvin T. Harris, 55, who lives in Spencer, at 6:48 p.m. Thursday, June 9, and charging him with stalking, fourth degree. But Harris held a press conference Friday where he reportedly said he was in Oneonta to sell a drone and was not talking to Schultz.
Troopers said they had determined Harris “had verbally threatened an off-duty New York State Police member and his family while standing in front of the member’s residence in the Town of Oneonta.”
Harris was located and arrested shortly after leaving the officer’s home, according to the police report. The suspect was arraigned before Town of Oneonta Judge Ferrell and released on his own recognizance pending further court proceedings.
At arraignment, Judge Ferrell issued an order of protection, directing Harris to stay away from the officer and his family, and also ordered him to surrender all firearms in his possession.
I think Cal should stay away from the Officer’s residence.
