CHERRY VALLEY – Cherry Valley was brought to a standstill on Sunday afternoon to honor Theodore “Ted” Duesler, a leader of Otsego County’s firefighter community.

A three-alarm siren sounded “Last Call” to herald the procession from the Cherry Valley firehouse to the First Presbyterian Church, where a celebration of life service and Fireman’s service where held.

He was a member of the Cherry Valley First Presbyterian Church and served as a trustee, treasurer, elder and deacon.

Ted was also a member of the Cherry Valley Volunteer Fire Department, and founding member of the Cherry Valley Emergency Squad. He was also a member of the Otsego County Fireman’s Association where he served as president, vice president, secretary and chaplain. He was a member of the New York State Association of Fire Chaplains and The Fireman’s Association of the State of New York.
