Hartwick College Director of Communications Dave Lubell was able to locate two rare images of Willard Yager, whose collection of 6,000 Native American artifacts will, after three years, again be the subject of an exhibit, "Of Time and the River," at the Yager Museum. An opening reception will launch the event at 6 p.m. Thursday, but it will be fully previewed in this week's Hometown Oneonta, on newsstands tomorrow afternoon. Hartwick College Director of Communications Dave Lubell was able to locate two rare images – this is one of them – of Willard Yager, whose collection of 6,000 Native American artifacts will, after three years, again be the subject of an exhibit, “Of Time and the River,” at the Yager Museum. An opening reception will launch the event at 6 p.m. Thursday, but it will be fully previewed in this week’s Hometown Oneonta and The Freeman’s Journal, on newsstands tomorrow afternoon. Yager, a member of one of Oneonta’s first families and a “gentleman scholar” in the area of archaeology, between 1890 and his passing in 1929, assembled and catalogued what is considered one of the finest collections of its kind, which his sister Marion deeded to Hartwick after his death.
