RICHFIELD SPRINGS – The new Stewart’s Shop now under construction on Main Street is one of 10 existing stores that are being replaced by new, larger buildings, according to company spokesperson Maria D’Amelia.

The Ballston-Spa-based company, is also building seven new shops this year, and completing “dozens of additions and remodels,” D’Amelia said.

The new store here is on the former Kinney’s site, next to Aubuchon Hardware.  The former pharmacy – Kinney’s had built a drive-thru store outside the village limits inn 2015 – was demolished last week, and construction began in earnest this week.

When complete, the shop will offer fresh pizza, made-to-order subs and a walk-in “beer cave.”  It will also have more seating, expanded parking and more room for pumping gas.

“We expect the new shop to open mid/late November, and then we will close our existing shop,” said D’Amelia.  “Stay tuned for details on our grand opening event.”

Stewart’s new stores are designed to customers’ changing lifestyles, she continued:  “We recognize that customers’ lives are increasingly busy, and their eating habits are changing.  They tend not to sit down for those three meals a day anymore. We make it easier to make that quick stop for a hot or prepared meal, sandwiches, snacks, or beverages.”
