Air Force Vet Owned Stan’s Garage

WELLS BRIDGE – Stanley Eldred, 82, who operated Stan’s Garage in Gilbert Street in Oneonta, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2016, at the state Veterans Home in Oxford, where he had resided for a year.

He was born Oct. 16, 1933 in Laurens, the son of the late Walter Eldred and Dorothy Rossman.  He married Elaine Loucks on July 21, 2001.

Stanley spent seven years in the Air Force as a crew chief for the B-52 bomber, stationed at Castle AFB California.  He later owned Stan’s Garage.

Stan enjoyed round and square dancing with his wife and playing cards with friends.

In addition to Elaine, he is survived by daughter Sandra (Juan) Vaquerizo and twin grandchildren, Katherine and Alex of Orlando, Fla.; stepsons Glen (Lisa) Loucks of Schenevus and Randy (Tracy) Loucks of Jefferson; sister Genevieve Grant of Fayetteville, Pa., brother Walter (Diane) Eldred of Denver, Colo.; brother Ken Eldred of Oneonta, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Steve Grant.

Per Stan’s request, a private committal service will be at the convenience of the family.
