Farm Credit East Offices To Open In Year

A ceremonial groundbreaking this morning launched construction of Farm Credit East’s 50-job regional headquarters on Route 80 (West Lake Road), Town of Springfield, a quarter-mile north of the Glimmerglass Festival. When complete in a year, the office will combine Farm Credit’s Sangerfield and Cobleskill offices. Participating were, from left, Sangerfield manager Craig Pollock; Ken Rizzo, Sano-Rubin Construction, Albany; Dave Hollander, Sano-Rubin president; Theresa Drerup and Kurt Ofer, principals in Altonview Architects, Cooperstown; John Camp, C&S Engineers, Syracuse; attorney Doug Zamelis, Springfield; Bill Elsey, Springfield town supervisor; Priscilla Barry, chair, Springfield town Planning Board; Cobleskill manager Rob Hurkewecz; Dave Pugh, director, Farm Credit’s country living loans; Skip Hardie, Lansing, Farm Credit board member, and Cooperstown native Mike Reynolds, Farm Credit executive vice president, now based in New Jersey. On the hill in the background is the former mansion of the Ryerson family, which owned the property for decades. Nearby, a crew from Barney & Sons, Morris, was drilling the well for the project.
