Fly Creek Cemetery Appeals
For Help As 4 Trees Toppled
Three large maples and an arbor vitae at the Fly Creek Valley Cemetery on Cemetery Road was toppled in Monday night’s storm, and the cemetery association appealing for contributions for the estimated $1,800 required for their removal, according to Trustee Bruce Andrews. “We can just about stay even to take care of the regular maintenance,” he said. “When something like this comes along, it’s hard to recoup.” One of the maple fell across the cemetery’s main access (top photo); but another (at right) was topped off by the storm, a bigger challenge to remove, he said. Contributions may be made to the Fly Creek Valley Cemetery Association, Box 93, Fly Creek NY 13337. (Bruce Andrews photos)
Is there a volunteer group for cleaning up around grave stones at the fly Creek cemetery? I’ve noticed stones are covered with grass and overrun with weeds.
