Worked At Bresee’s, Then Fox Hospital
OTEGO – Janet B. Raymond, 84, a nurse who retired from Fox Hospital, passed away June 16, 2017 at her home.
Janet was born April 29, 1933 in the family home on Hudson Street in Oneonta, the daughter of Jay and Catherine (Smith) Woolheater. She graduated from Oneonta High School in 1950 and began raising a family of seven children and many four-legged friends. She married James Raymond in November 1969.
Janet worked at Bresee’s Department Store and later entered the health field and obtained her LPN license, eventually retiring from Fox Hospital. After retirement, she and Jim enjoyed companionship and many adventures with Dick and Bea Merwin.
Janet was predeceased by her daughter, Marcia Borden; grandchildren, Jacqueline and Michael Stanley; sister, Loretta Thompson; brother and sister-in-law, Jay and Frances (Face) Woolheater; daughter-in-law, Carla Stanley; and brother-in-law, William Bortell.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Raymond of Otego; children, Jack (Joan) Stanley of Tennessee, Linda (Eugene) Wells of Otego, David Stanley and fiancée, Susan Weimer of Laurens, Joseph (Amy) Stanley of Wisconsin, Catherine (Gary) Lushkevich of Cobleskill, and Anie Stanley and companion, Juliette Bergogne of Narrowsburg; son-in-law, Gary Borden of West Davenport; also surviving are 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; her sister, Charlotte Bortell; sister-in-law, Beverly (Bill) Guest; brother-in-law, Ronald (Kathie) Raymond; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Janet loved her furry friends and will be missed by her dog, Erica and kitten, Baby.
At Janet’s request, there will be no services.
