IN MEMORIAM: Dorothy Salluce, 94;
Native Of England Settled In Oneonta
ONEONTA – Dorothy Joan Salluce, 94, a native of England who moved to the U.S. and Oneonta in 1945 when she was 22 years old, passed away Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Fox Nursing Home.
She was born April 5, 1923, in Sheffield, England, the daughter of the late Henry George and Edith (Davis) Clark. Dorothy grew up in England, where she was a championship swimmer and dancer and performed on stage.
A seamstress for more than 50 years, she began working in England, then joined Oneonta Dress Factory. Dorothy then worked at Enterprise Aluminum Plant where she met her future husband, Ralph Henry Salluce.
On Sept. 5, 1959, she married Ralph Henry Salluce in Oneonta, then stayed at home to raise their family. Ralph predeceased her on Nov. 25, 1982.
For many years, Dorothy volunteered at the Oneonta Salvation Army and was a member of the Busy Bees.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Linda C. (Dean) Lent of Oneonta; stepdaughter, Patricia Lovvorn of Texas; nine grandchildren, Vincent Lent and JoElle Potter, David Lent, Kim Harvey and her two children, Richard and Janice Snyder and their four children, Kelli and Jeremy Ogdie and their two children, Sam and Jennifer Snyder and their two children, and Misty and Tim Wagner and their five children; two step- granddaughters, Patty Ann and Jana; two nephews, Roy Viney and Michael Foti; two nieces, Lisa Schneeman and Michele Dimmick; and special friend, Dawn Dixon.
She was predeceased by son, Richard C. Snyder; granddaughter, Michelle Kathleen; step-grandson, Richard; sister, Gladys and Ronald Viney; and brother, Ronnie Clark.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, Monday, Aug. 28, at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St., Oneonta. Funeral services will immediately follow at noon with the Rev. John Grenier, Pastor of Oneonta Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be private at a later date.
