Farmers’ Museum Crowd-Sourcing
To Fund Retirement Home For ‘Zeb’

COOPERSTOWN – A cherished figure at The Farmer’s Museum is hoping to get a new home soon. Zeb, a 23-year-old Percheron, retired from full service two years ago, and museum officials are hoping to raise enough money to build him his own stable to relax in.
Following the two busiest shopping days of the year – Black Friday and Cyber Monday – museum officials took action on Giving Tuesday to crowd-source for $10,000, enough to build Zeb a retirement stable.
“The total cost for the project is about $10,000,” said Amanda Holland, museum’s associate director of development. The Farmer’s Museum had already raised $2,500 toward the new shelter through previous donations, and had raised another $660 by mid-afternoon today.
“The enclosure is meant to provide a little extra comfort when he’s out in the pasture,” said Holland.
Zeb has called the museum home for 20 years, and will hopefully be around much longer to enjoy his new enclosure. “These horses typically live 25 or 30 years, but for a horse his age, Zeb is in great shape,” said farmer Bob Thompson. “I like to joke that he gets better care than some of the staff.”
