City Manager Murphy Starts Work Monday
ONEONTA – The new city manager, Martin Murphy, assumes his duties Monday, Oct. 6, at City Hall.
The following evening is his first Common Council meeting, and he is scheduled to review “on boarding” plans and issues with Mayor Miller and the council, according to the meeting agenda released this afternoon.
Murphy, most recently county administrator for Cortland County, was hired in early September. He replaces Oneonta’s first city manager, Mike Long, who retired at the end of May.
In other business Tuesday evening, Common Council will consider legalizing the raising of chickens within city limits, a practice now outlawed.
