Blocks Route 166

Both Drivers Transported To Bassett

TOWN OF MIDDLEFIELD – Two vehicles collided head-on this morning on Route 166 and Cornish Hill Road, sending both drivers to Bassett Hospital, according to Sheriff’s Deputy James Mateunas.

When the emergency call was placed at 9:11 a.m., Cooperstown firefighters and sheriff’s deputies responded.

Route 166 was blocked off in both directions near the crash, and traffic was diverted over Cornish Hill Road,while crews responded to the call.

No cause has been established as the accident is still under investigation.

Killer Knapp Dies In Prison; Guilty In SUNY Coed’s Death ONEONTA – Ricky Knapp, the man convicted of the 1977 death of SUNY Oneonta student, has died in Mohawk Correctional Facility, according to prison records. Knapp, 66, died March 8, having served 40 years of a 25-to-life sentence for a 1978 manslaughter conviction in the death of 18-year-old Linda Velzy, a SUNY student from Long Island.
