COOPERSTOWN – His prize-winning 1924 Ford Tractor is a gem in itself, but Fred Zimmerman of Davenport Center, who was displaying his treasure on wheels at The Farmers’ Museum Tractorfest (it continues Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.) also sees it as an entry point into local history.

Zimmerman brought along a photo of Stanley Miller using a Ford tractor in the mid-’20s on his farm in Well’s Bridge.  Miller had two sons, Roger and Fred, the latter who still lives in the area, in West Oneonta.

Zimmerman, who bought the tractor in Sidney a half-dozen years ago, replaced the metal tires with rubber ones so he can drive it in parades, although the steel spokes are still there for support.
