IN MEMORIAM: Louise E. Puylara, 90;
Past Officer In Oneonta Little League
ONEONTA – Louise Elinor Puylara, also known to many of us as “Weezer”, 90, passed away on Nov. 6, 2018. She had lived at Otsego Manor for the past several years.
Born in Oneonta to Harold Cary and Theresa Bostwick Cary on March 7, 1928, Louise was a lifelong resident of the Oneonta area, marrying Alfred Puylara after his return home from World War II.
She had three children and has now departed us to happily join her husband and daughter Jane Puylara in heaven. Louise is survived by her son James Puylara (wife Jeannette) of Milford, and daughter Karen Birch (husband Rodney) Savannah, in Wayne County. Also, her loving special niece Bonnie Bowen, Town of Maryland. Louise was a wonderful grandmother to eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Louise was vice president of the Oneonta Little League Auxiliary earlier in her life and was proud to spend time serving this association. She once worked at the Oneonta Dress Factory as a seamstress. She eventually retired from the Oneonta Department of Labor many years ago and loved working with her co-workers and the public in her position as secretary. She especially liked to travel and enjoyed staying at her loving nieces, Toni Brienza’s Florida condominium during her many trips south.
She was a very kind hearted soul and was known and loved in the community by many. Her smile and witty attitude will be missed deeply.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Nov. 19 at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Oneonta. Pastor Eric Santamont of the Southside Wesleyan Church in Oneonta will be officiating.
