Army Bugler In WWII, Union Laborer

STAMFORD – Roy Patrick Kenny, 95, an Army bugler at the end of World War II, passed away Jan. 6, 2019 at Robinson Terrance in Stamford.

He was born June 2, 1923, in Brooklyn, the son of Josephine Kenny and John Cullen.

Roy was an Army veteran, who began his service in Infantry One in 1945 during in World War II and served until 1952.  During his service he was in the military band and played the bugle.  Recently he was honored by Robinson Terrace for his service.

Roy was employed by the laborers Local 754 in Bardonia, Rockland County.  He was a jack of all trades, a one-of-a-kind person.  He also worked at the New City and Stony Point Libraries.

He is survived by his children, Patrick Kenny of Stony Point, Catherine Wyble of Davenport, Margaret Baldwin of Boonsboro, Md., Josephine Wyble of Jefferson, and Eva Goetz of California; grandchildren, Wyatt, Bailey, April, Cheyenne, Robert Roy, Constance Joan, Heather Mack, Crystal, Kelly and Taylor; great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Reagan, Mason, Hailey, Ella and Sophie.

He was predeceased by his wife, Joan Hurley Kenny, and a grandson, William Walter Wyble.

Private services will be held at a later date.
