IN MEMORIAM: James A. Atcher, 61; Retired From SUNY
OTEGO – James A. Atcher, 61, employed in SUNY Oneonta maintenance for 20 years before his retirement in 1996, passed away on Friday at Bassett Hospital.
James was born on July 14, 1953 in Dover, N.J., the son of the late Clifford M. and Ruth (Reed) Atcher.
He enjoyed model railroading, the great outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, including fishing trips to Canada and deep-sea fishing in Florida. He also liked draft horses.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Joyce McMurray and husband, Steve of West Virginia, Susan Wilber of Franklin, Edward Atcher of New Berlin, Charles Atcher and his wife, Carol of Otego and Donna Housley of Pennsylvania.
He is also survived by his numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, James Wilber.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family in the spring.
