County Wins $2M In State Grants;

Including Susquehanna Job Center

ONEONTA – Governor Cuomo today announced $13 million in Community Development Block grants statewide with $2 million for Otsego County, including $200,000 for the fledgling Susquehanna Regional Center for Growth in Oneonta, which will provide employment training for 80 people.

This is the first significant outside funding for a project initiated since the county IDA embraced the “single point of contact” strategy 11 months ago. Significant additional ec-dev funding it being sought through the state’s Comprehensive Funding Application process, with those grants due to be announced at mid-month.

Also included is $600,000 for infrastructure needs in Oneonta’s Market Street area, $105,000 for the Northern Eagle Beverage expansion in the town, $400,000 for streetscape needs on the city’s Main Street, and $250,000 to rehab 12 homes.

Outside the city, there is $60,000 for expansion of Morris Tent, $660,800 to replace 10 mobile homes, and $250,000 to rehabilitate 12 homes in Unadilla.
