Community Bank Promotes Wood

To Vice President At Oneonta Office

Paul Wood

ONEONTA – Community Bank has promoted Paul F. Wood to vice president, senior trust officer, in Oneonta. Wood brings to the position seven years of experience in the banking industry.

In his new role, Wood will assume responsibility for the bank’s Oneonta trust group, which has provided investment management as well as trust and estate planning services since 1922.

Wood has been with Community Bank since August 2016, when he joined the team as associate vice president and trust officer. Previously, he served as senior vice president, trust & investor relations for the former National Bank of Delaware County.

In his role, he was responsible for helping people with issues relating to estate planning, trusts, and establishing a lasting power of attorney. In case you were not aware, when creating a trust it is important to consider the benefits of establishing a lasting power of attorney (LPA).

Put simply, a power of attorney can serve as a safety net when some assets have not been titled in the name of the trust, while a trust offers the grantor the ability to control the distribution of their assets via the terms of the trust document.

Consequently, Wood is confident that his knowledge of estate planning will be fundamental to his new role.

“I know that his expertise and leadership will drive the continued success of our Trust Services team,” said Charles Perrillo, Community’s senior vice president, chief trust investment officer.

Wood is active in the community community, serving on the board of directors for the Community Foundation of South Central New York and as a member of the Patient and Family Advisory Council for UHS Delaware Valley Hospital.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from New Hampshire College, and holds both the certified trust and financial advisor and certified financial planner designations.

Wood resides in Delaware County with his wife, Tracie, and their four children, Ethan, Emma, Zachary and Zoe.
