COOPERSTOWN – The CCS superintendent of schools, victim of an fatal four-wheeler accident, was found at 4 a.m. today near the Warnerville Cutoff Road outside Cobleskill after a night-long search involving 30-40 search and rescue volunteers, according to Michael Hartzel, director of that county’s Office of Emergency Services.

According to Hartzel, state police alerted local officials at about 11 p.m. Sunday that the driver of a four-wheeler had left his home on Patrick Road earlier in the day and had not returned.

At 12:30 p.m., Cobleskill firefighters and county search-and-rescue teams were dispatched and, through the night, were joined by additional personnel from Carlisle, Central Bridge, Schoharie, Sharon Springs and Summit.  “There’s a lot of woods out there,” Hartzel explained.

The accident scene on Patrick Road was near where C.J. Hebert resided with his wife, Tammy, an assistant superintendent at Windham Ashland Jewett Central School.  Patrick is a smaller road that loops back to County Route 10 from the Warnerville Cutoff.
