After Jury Trial, Schenectady Man
Guilty Of Intending To Sell Cocaine
COOPERSTOWN – A Schenectady man, 25, faces up to 15 years in prison after he was convicted Friday of possession of cocaine last March 18 with intent to sell after a jury trial in the Otsego County Court.
The jury, consisting of eight men and four women, deliberated for three hours and 15 minutes before returning a verdict of guilty against Duane D. Oates, on a charge of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Third Degree.
His sentencing is scheduled for May 6.
District Attorney John M. Muehl prosecuted. The defense attorney was Andrew Puritz, Oneonta. County Judge John F. Lambert presided.
