COOPERSTOWN – Elections DO have consequences.

County Rep. Len Carson, R-Oneonta, who fell short in his attempt yesterday to replace Kathy Clark, R-Otego, as chair of the Otsego County Board of Representatives, lost his committee chairmanship and was removed from the board’s two key committees.

As board chair, Clark appoints the committees at the county board’s annual reorganization meeting.

Carson, the retired Oneonta Fire Department EMS captain, was replaced as chair of the Public Safety Committee by county Rep. Ed Frazier, R-Unadilla, the board’s vice chair.  He was also removed from that  committee.

Carson was also removed from the Administration Committee, the county board’s equivalent of ways & means, and the Intergovernmental Affairs Committee, which handles economic development issues, and named to the Human Services and the Health & Education committees.

Two of Clark’s allies, Craig Gelbsman, R-Oneonta, and Meg Kennedy, R-Hartwick, were appointed chairs of the Administration and IGA committees respectively.
