ONEONTA – The consultants at Webb Management will give their final recommendations for a five-year business plan for the Oneonta Theatre at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19 at Foothills.

The performing arts management consultants, who shared their initial findings in December, will report on their study of the local demographics and tourism data for our area and region, and give an overview of their recommendations for a five-year business plan for a revived Oneonta Theatre.

The study’s scope included an inspection and analysis of the theatre structure itself, which was conducted by the architectural firm Holzman Moss Bottino Architecture (HMBA) of NYC. HMBA specializes in the design and renovation of both contemporary and historic performing arts venues.

A principal architect from HMBA will describe the current state of the Oneonta Theatre building and describe several possible levels of restoration, including estimates of costs.

The third aspect of the report will address the concept of developing a cultural arts-and-entertainment district in downtown Oneonta. This element of the study was conducted by the urban planners at Environmental Design & Research (EDR), a landscape design firm based in Syracuse, NY.

This feasibility study was commissioned by the Friends of the Oneonta Theatre and the Greater Oneonta Historical Society, and was made possible through a technical assistance grant from the Downtown Revitalization Initiative of the City of Oneonta.
