DISTRICT 8 DEBATE (COOPERSTOWN/TOWN OF OTSEGO)

County Manager v. Committees?

Marietta,Walker Views Opposite

County Rep. Andrew Marietta, D-Cooperstown/Town of Otsego, center, and his Republican challenger Tim Walker, left, make way for Otsego Town Board candidates after a lively hour-long debate this evening in the town hall in Fly Creek. The two took starkly contrasting positions how county government works or might work. Marietta supported the idea of a county manager, and of streamlining the committee system. Walker characterized a county manager as “another layer of bureaucracy” and said the committee systems works fine in the U.S. Congress. (Jim Kevlin/AllOTSEGO.com)
